SDET Engineer

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a SDET Engineer based in India.

This role sits at the intersection of quality engineering, automation, and data-driven product development within a high-performance, fast-scaling environment. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, stability, and performance of complex web, API, and backend systems that power large-scale data products. The position involves designing and executing test strategies, building automated test frameworks, and partnering closely with engineering and data teams across the full software lifecycle. You will play a key role in identifying issues early, improving release quality, and strengthening overall system resilience. The environment is highly collaborative, agile, and impact-driven, with strong ownership expectations and rapid feedback loops. This is a hands-on role where your work directly contributes to product quality and customer trust at scale.

• Design, develop, and execute comprehensive test strategies for web, API, and backend systems across the software development lifecycle.
• Build and maintain automated test frameworks and scripts using tools such as Python, Pytest, or shell scripting.
• Perform functional, regression, integration, and system testing to ensure product stability and release readiness.
• Identify, log, track, and manage defects using tools such as Jira or Azure DevOps, ensuring timely resolution.
• Collaborate closely with engineering and data teams to understand requirements and define effective testing approaches.
• Participate in release cycles, ensuring thorough validation and smooth deployment of new features.
• Contribute to improving QA processes, automation coverage, and overall testing efficiency.
• Support performance and stress testing initiatives using tools such as JMeter when required.

Requirements:

• 5–8 years of experience in QA, SDET, or software testing roles within technology-driven environments.
• Strong experience in functional, manual, and automation testing methodologies.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Java, C++, Go, or C#.
• Hands-on experience with test automation frameworks such as Pytest and scripting for QA automation.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.
• Experience using defect tracking tools such as Jira or similar platforms.
• Familiarity with performance and load testing tools such as JMeter is preferred.
• Knowledge of SQL, Linux fundamentals, Docker, or related engineering tools is a plus.
• Strong analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills across technical teams.
