This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a PreSales Systems Engineer based in Canada.
This role sits at the intersection of advanced technical architecture and customer-facing solution design, supporting complex data storage and workflow environments across industries such as media, entertainment, and large-scale data management. You will act as a trusted technical advisor throughout the sales cycle, translating customer requirements into scalable, high-performance storage and data solutions. The position involves designing end-to-end architectures, delivering technical presentations, and demonstrating how solutions integrate with third-party technologies. You will collaborate closely with sales teams, product managers, and clients to build proof-of-concept environments and guide solution implementation strategies. A strong understanding of storage systems, networks, and data workflows is essential to succeed in this highly consultative, pre-sales environment. This is a customer-facing, solution-driven role where technical depth and communication skills are equally critical.
Accountabilities:
- Lead technical pre-sales activities including solution presentations, product demonstrations, and architecture discussions with customers and partners.
- Gather and analyze functional and technical requirements to design end-to-end system architectures tailored to customer environments.
- Develop detailed solution designs, including technical documentation, Visio diagrams, and reference architectures to support sales proposals.
- Act as a subject matter expert on storage, data management, and workflow solutions across backup, archive, and media environments.
- Collaborate with sales, product, and engineering teams to develop proof-of-concept and implementation strategies.
- Support RFP/RFI responses and contribute to winning technical recommendations through strong solution positioning.
- Maintain strong customer relationships while identifying business needs and translating them into scalable technical solutions.
- Participate in sales pipeline reviews and ensure accurate documentation of customer technical environments in CRM systems.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent experience with 8+ years in pre-sales technical roles.
- Strong expertise in storage technologies including NAS, SAN, DAS, software-defined storage, and archival systems.
- Deep understanding of networking concepts (OSI model, FC architectures, topologies, etc.) and enterprise IT infrastructure.
- Experience with data management workflows, backup strategies, and information lifecycle management.
- Knowledge of Media & Entertainment workflows (broadcast, post-production, VFX) is highly desirable.
- Strong scripting skills (e.g., Python, shell scripting) and familiarity with Linux, UNIX, Windows, and Mac environments.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and consultative selling skills with the ability to influence technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and architectural design capabilities in complex enterprise environments.
