Senior Security Engineer, Add-ons Operations

This role sits at the intersection of security engineering, platform reliability, and ecosystem trust for a large-scale add-ons marketplace used by millions of users worldwide. You will help safeguard the integrity of extension submission, review, and moderation systems while improving the infrastructure that powers developer and reviewer workflows. You will work across engineering, product, and operations teams to design resilient systems that detect abuse, prevent malicious behavior, and ensure policy compliance. The role also involves modernizing tools and services that support developers and reviewers. Your work will have direct impact on platform safety, reliability, and user experience at global scale.
Accountabilities:
- Lead the design and delivery of security-focused and reliability improvements across add-ons submission, review, and moderation systems, ensuring safe and trustworthy ecosystem operations.
- Build and maintain automated security and abuse detection systems, including workflows for policy enforcement, content moderation, and risk mitigation.
- Improve platform observability through monitoring, logging, alerting, and data-driven insights to detect incidents and prevent recurring issues.
- Participate in incident response and operational support, resolving critical issues affecting developers, reviewers, or end users.
- Contribute to full-stack development efforts across backend services (Python/Django), frontend tools (React/TypeScript), and cloud infrastructure (Google Cloud).
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including engineering, product, QA, and developer relations to deliver end-to-end improvements to ecosystem tools and processes.
- Support modernization of reviewer tools, DevHub systems, and moderation pipelines to improve efficiency, scalability, and security posture.
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering, with a focus on backend or full-stack development in production environments
- Strong experience with Python/Django or similar backend frameworks
- Experience with cloud platforms (Google Cloud, AWS, or Azure) and production system operations
- Strong knowledge of web security principles, threat modeling, and abuse prevention techniques
- Experience building or maintaining distributed systems with high reliability and observability requirements
- Familiarity with React/TypeScript or similar frontend technologies is a plus
- Experience with incident response, on-call operations, and production debugging
- Strong collaboration skills in distributed engineering teams and open communication practices

Requirements:
