This finance leadership role plays a key part in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and efficiency of accounting operations within a growing, service-oriented organization. The Assistant Controller will oversee critical financial processes including month-end and year-end close, financial reporting, and compliance with GAAP standards. This role partners closely with the Chief Accounting Officer and cross-functional teams to strengthen internal controls, improve reporting systems, and support strategic financial planning. It also involves supervising and developing accounting staff while driving process improvements and automation initiatives. The environment is hands-on, collaborative, and fast-moving, with a strong emphasis on operational reliability and continuous improvement. Accountabilities:

  • Support and oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements and supporting schedules in compliance with GAAP.
  • Maintain and enhance internal controls, ensuring compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
  • Assist in budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and performance analysis activities.
  • Monitor general ledger activity, account reconciliations, and financial data integrity.
  • Support external audits, tax filings, and related compliance requirements.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop accounting team members to strengthen overall team performance.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional departments to support operational and financial objectives.
  • Drive process improvements, automation, and efficiency across accounting workflows.
  • Support ERP system enhancements and improvements to financial reporting tools and processes.
  • Assist in cash management and working capital optimization initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for key accounting processes.
  • Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA, CMA, or equivalent certification strongly preferred.
    • 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including supervisory or team leadership responsibilities.
    • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting standards, and internal control frameworks.
    • Experience working with ERP systems and advanced Excel skills.
    • Background in public accounting considered a strong plus.
    • Proven ability to manage financial close processes and ensure reporting accuracy under deadlines.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities with experience partnering across teams.
    • Demonstrated leadership capability with a focus on mentoring and team development.
    • Comfort with technology and ability to recommend and implement process improvements and automation.
