This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Bookkeeper/Controller based in India.
This role is focused on owning the day-to-day accounting operations and ensuring a disciplined, accurate, and timely month-end close process within a finance and advisory environment. You will be responsible for maintaining clean financial records, supporting reconciliations, and producing reliable reporting that directly informs client decision-making. The position is highly execution-driven, requiring strong attention to detail and consistency in delivering accounting outputs on schedule. You will work closely with US-based stakeholders in a fully remote setup, where clear communication and responsiveness are essential. The environment is fast-paced and structured around deadlines, particularly month-end close cycles. Your work will directly contribute to financial accuracy, compliance readiness, and trusted client reporting.
Accountabilities:
- Own day-to-day bookkeeping activities including AP/AR processing, journal entries, expense categorization, and general ledger maintenance
- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations, promptly identifying and resolving discrepancies
- Maintain accurate and audit-ready financial records with complete supporting documentation
- Lead or support month-end close activities including accruals, checklists, reconciliations, and close deliverables
- Prepare monthly financial reports such as P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow statements with variance analysis
- Ensure consistent execution of weekly and month-end accounting cycles with strict adherence to deadlines
- Improve accounting processes, templates, and controls to enhance efficiency and reduce errors
- Communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders regarding status updates, issues, and financial progress
Requirements:
- 3–7+ years of experience in bookkeeping, accounting, or controller-level responsibilities
- Strong experience in reconciliations, month-end close processes, and financial reporting
- High attention to detail with strong ownership and follow-through on tasks
- Ability to work within structured processes and consistently meet deadlines
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Comfortable working in a remote, distributed, and US-facing work environment
- Strong proficiency in Excel or Google Sheets for reporting and reconciliations
- Experience with multi-entity accounting or finance operations is a plus
- Familiarity with US accounting workflows, tax-adjacent processes, or advisory firms is a bonus
