Forward Deployed Data Engineer

Jobgether · Ireland

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Forward Deployed Data Engineer based in Ireland.

This is a high-impact, customer-facing engineering role focused on delivering large-scale data platform migration projects powered by advanced AI automation. You will operate at the intersection of data engineering, consulting, and technical delivery leadership, owning complex migrations from scoping through execution and final handoff. The role requires deep engagement with customer environments, where you will rapidly understand existing data architectures and ensure seamless transition to modern platforms. Acting as both a technical lead and delivery owner, you will manage multiple concurrent projects while removing blockers and ensuring timelines are met. You will also collaborate closely with internal engineering teams to configure and optimize proprietary migration tooling. This is a hands-on, high-ownership position where your work directly replaces what would traditionally require an entire consulting team.

Accountabilities:

  • Own end-to-end delivery of multiple concurrent data migration projects, including scoping, planning, execution, and customer handoff
  • Serve as the primary technical and delivery contact for customers, managing expectations and running regular stakeholder check-ins
  • Configure and operate AI-driven migration tooling to execute large-scale data platform transformations
  • Collaborate closely with internal engineering teams to resolve technical challenges and improve migration performance
  • Identify, surface, and remove blockers proactively to ensure timely and predictable project delivery
  • Translate complex customer data environments into clear technical plans and execution roadmaps
  • Monitor project health, risks, and timelines while escalating issues early to avoid delivery delays
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of migration frameworks, tooling, and delivery best practices
  • Help refine and scale standardized playbooks for future migration projects
  • Requirements:

    • 3–6 years of experience in data engineering, data consulting, or customer-facing technical delivery roles
    • Strong knowledge of the modern data stack including tools such as dbt, Snowflake, Databricks, and orchestration platforms
    • Experience working with legacy data systems such as ETL pipelines, stored procedures, and batch processing architectures
    • Proven ability to manage complex technical projects with multiple stakeholders and competing priorities
    • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical teams and executive-level stakeholders
    • Strong ownership mindset with a track record of independently driving outcomes and resolving issues end-to-end
    • Experience or strong interest in AI-powered tools and a habit of using them to improve productivity and delivery quality
    • Ability to work in fast-moving, ambiguous environments while maintaining structure and delivery discipline
    • Bonus: prior experience with data platform migrations or large-scale modernization projects
    • Benefits:

      • Competitive compensation package including base salary and equity
      • Opportunity to work on high-impact, large-scale data transformation projects
      • Exposure to leading modern data platforms and advanced AI-driven engineering tools
      • Fast-paced, ownership-driven environment with significant autonomy over delivery
      • Direct collaboration with experienced engineering teams and technical leadership
      • Career growth opportunities within a rapidly scaling AI-first data engineering organization
      • Inclusive and supportive culture focused on innovation, learning, and continuous improvement
