This role offers the opportunity to shape high-impact visual effects across multiple acclaimed game franchises in a fast-paced, AAA development environment. You will collaborate closely with art directors, technical artists, and designers to craft immersive, real-time VFX that elevate gameplay and storytelling. The position involves pushing the boundaries of Unreal Engine 5 while balancing artistic vision with strict technical constraints for console platforms. You will contribute to the visual identity of large-scale titles, ensuring effects are both visually striking and performance-optimized. Working across multidisciplinary teams, you’ll help define workflows, refine production pipelines, and bring dynamic in-game moments to life. This is a highly collaborative role for a VFX artist passionate about both artistry and technical execution in modern game development.

Accountabilities:

Create and implement high-quality real-time visual effects using Unreal Engine 5, including particle systems and shader-based materials that enhance gameplay and immersion.

  • Develop efficient, performance-optimized materials, textures, and VFX assets using tools such as Substance Designer, Houdini, Embergen, and Photoshop.
  • Collaborate with art, design, and technical teams to translate gameplay concepts into visually compelling effects aligned with creative direction.
  • Produce supporting assets such as simple 3D models, UV layouts, and animations when needed to support VFX implementation.
  • Ensure all visual effects meet artistic quality standards while respecting platform limitations, memory budgets, and frame rate targets.
  • Participate in design and production discussions to align VFX execution with gameplay clarity and aesthetic goals.
  • Help refine workflows and production processes in collaboration with technical art leadership to improve efficiency and consistency.
  • Requirements:

    Bring 6+ years of professional experience as a VFX Artist in the video game industry, with a proven track record of shipping at least two multi-platform titles. Strong expertise in creating real-time effects within Unreal Engine and familiarity with advanced VFX workflows.

    • Proficiency with industry-standard tools including Houdini, Maya or 3ds Max, Substance Designer, Photoshop, and real-time VFX toolsets.
    • Deep understanding of real-time rendering constraints, console performance budgets, and optimization techniques for VFX systems.
    • Strong artistic foundation with mastery of timing, motion, color, and visual storytelling in interactive environments.
    • Experience collaborating within multidisciplinary teams, with strong communication and feedback integration skills.
    • Problem-solving mindset with curiosity to improve tools, pipelines, and production methodologies.
    • Solid understanding of game art pipelines and how VFX integrates into gameplay systems and performance requirements.
