Join our team at Thermo Fisher Scientific as a Data Scientist III and contribute to global healthcare and scientific innovation. REQUIREMENTS:
Software Development & Deployment (Must)
- Design, develop, deploy, and maintain enterprise-scale Python applications, including Dash-based analytical and operational applications.
- Own application deployment lifecycle from development through production support.
- Develop and maintain APIs, backend services, data integrations, and user-facing dashboards.
- Partner with scientists, engineers, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable software solutions.
DevOps & Cloud Engineering (Must)
- Build, maintain, and optimize CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, deployment, and release management.
- Implement DevOps best practices including infrastructure as code, monitoring, logging, and automated recovery.
- Deploy and manage applications in cloud environments such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Manage containerized applications using Docker and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
- Ensure application reliability, security, scalability, and performance in production environments.
Industrial Connectivity & Data Systems (Preferred)
- Design and implement integrations with manufacturing, laboratory, and process automation systems.
- Develop solutions leveraging OPC UA, OPC DA, MQTT, and other industrial communication protocols.
- Collaborate with automation, manufacturing, and process engineering teams to enable real-time data acquisition and visualization.
- Support Industrial IoT (IIoT) initiatives and data platform integrations.
Education
- Master’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Data Science, Engineering, or related technical field with 3+ years of relevant experience; OR
- Bachelor's degree with 5+ years of relevant experience.
- PhD in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field preferred.
Required Experience & Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience developing and deploying production software applications.
- Strong proficiency in Python and modern software development practices.
- Hands-on experience developing and deploying Python Dash, Flask, or similar web applications.
- Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using tools such as GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, GitLab CI, or Jenkins.
- Experience deploying and supporting applications in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Experience with Docker containers and Kubernetes orchestration.
- Strong knowledge of software release management, DevOps practices, monitoring, and automation.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server, database design, query optimization, and performance tuning.
- Familiarity with Linux/Unix administration and scripting.
- Experience integrating with OPC UA, OPC DA, MQTT, SCADA, historian systems, or other industrial/IoT platforms. (preferred)
- Understanding industrial automation, manufacturing systems, or laboratory informatics environments is highly desirable. (preferred)
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range estimated for this position based in New York is $87,200.00–$116,200.00.This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy.
