Engineering Team Lead

Jobgether · US

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Engineering Team Lead based in the United States.

This role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership across a cross-functional product team building a modern, AI-powered customer communication platform. You will guide the development of scalable web applications while actively contributing across frontend and backend systems to deliver end-to-end features. The position sits at the intersection of engineering, product, and UX, ensuring that user experiences are performant, intuitive, and tightly aligned with business goals. Beyond coding, you will define technical direction, shape architectural decisions, and help structure delivery for complex initiatives. You will also play a key role in mentoring engineers, improving team practices, and strengthening delivery quality and reliability. This is a high-impact leadership role for someone who enjoys building software while elevating the people and systems around them.

Accountabilities:

Lead a cross-functional engineering team by balancing hands-on development with technical leadership, primarily driving frontend development in React and TypeScript while contributing to backend services in Node.js and Java to deliver complete product capabilities.

  • Partner with Product and UX teams to translate requirements into clear technical plans, break down epics, and define well-scoped deliverables
  • Own technical direction for the team, including architecture decisions, system design discussions, and cross-team engineering alignment
  • Mentor and coach engineers through code reviews, pair programming, 1:1s, and continuous feedback to improve technical capability and autonomy
  • Manage sprint planning, retrospectives, workflow health, and delivery tracking while proactively identifying and removing blockers
  • Oversee technical debt prioritization, architectural improvements, and documentation to ensure long-term codebase health
  • Support production reliability through monitoring practices, incident response, and on-call readiness across team-owned services
  • Participate in hiring and onboarding activities, helping grow and integrate new engineers into the team
  • Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field preferred, with 7+ years of software engineering experience, including strong expertise in frontend development and proven experience leading or technically anchoring an agile engineering team.

    • Deep experience with React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, CSS/SASS, and building scalable, accessible web applications
    • Strong full-stack capability with backend experience in Node.js and Java (Spring Boot), including REST/GraphQL API design and relational databases such as PostgreSQL
    • Experience working in cloud-based microservices environments (AWS or GCP), including CI/CD pipelines, Docker, Kubernetes, and observability tools
    • Proven ability to lead engineering teams through sprint planning, estimation, delivery execution, and technical decision-making
    • Strong mentorship skills with a track record of improving team performance through coaching, feedback, and code quality standards
    • Experience handling production incidents, on-call rotations, postmortems, and system reliability practices
    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical topics into clear plans across engineering, product, and design stakeholders
    • Strong ownership mindset with the ability to operate independently and drive outcomes in a fast-paced environment
    • Benefits:

      • Comprehensive health, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance coverage
      • Paid birthday day off and additional time-off benefits
      • Onsite gym access and wellness-oriented perks
      • Snacks and beverages provided in-office
      • Equal opportunity workplace with a strong focus on inclusion and diverse teams
      • Collaborative, high-autonomy engineering culture with strong ownership expectations
      • Opportunity to lead and shape a modern, high-growth SaaS engineering organization.
