Staff Software Engineer, Partner Integrations

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Software Engineer, Partner Integrations based in the United States.

This role sits at the core of a fast-scaling fintech platform focused on transforming how users manage one of their most important recurring expenses. You will be responsible for building and evolving the integrations layer that powers payment flows and partner connectivity across banking and financial systems. The position combines deep backend engineering with platform ownership, requiring strong expertise in distributed systems, APIs, and large-scale financial infrastructure. You will help define the technical direction of partner integrations while collaborating closely with product, design, infrastructure, and go-to-market teams. The environment is high-ownership, highly collaborative, and impact-driven, with a strong emphasis on scalability, reliability, and user trust. This is a hands-on leadership role where your technical decisions directly influence product expansion and financial transaction integrity at scale.

Accountabilities:

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable partner integration systems, including APIs, SDKs, and embedded services that power payment and financial workflows.
  • Architect and evolve distributed systems supporting money movement across banking partners and payment rails such as ACH and related financial infrastructure.
  • Own technical roadmap definition for the Partner Integrations domain, ensuring alignment with product and business objectives.
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with engineering, product, design, infrastructure, and customer-facing teams to deliver high-impact platform capabilities.
  • Improve system performance, reliability, and observability across integrations through automation, tooling, and platform enhancements.
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to engineering excellence through code reviews, architectural guidance, and best practices.
  • Drive end-to-end delivery of complex initiatives, ensuring high-quality execution and operational readiness at scale.
  • Requirements:

    • 6+ years of professional software engineering experience with a strong focus on backend or platform systems.
    • 4+ years of hands-on experience with Java, including Spring (Boot/Web/Core), Gradle, JUnit, and JVM performance tuning.
    • Strong background in distributed systems, service-oriented architecture, RESTful APIs, and message-driven systems.
    • Experience working with cloud environments such as AWS (EKS, RDS/Aurora, DynamoDB, ElastiCache) and containerized infrastructure.
    • Proven ability to lead complex, high-impact product deliveries from design through production in fast-paced environments.
    • Experience working across cross-functional teams and aligning technical execution with business and product stakeholders.
    • Strong understanding of fintech systems and payment infrastructure is highly preferred.
    • Bonus: experience with CI/CD (e.g., GitHub Actions), observability tools (e.g., Datadog), IaC (Terraform/CDK), and data platforms such as Snowflake.
    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to operate effectively in distributed, collaborative teams.
    • Benefits:

      • Competitive base salary depending on location tier:
        • $170,000 – $212,500 (Tier 3)
        • $180,000 – $225,000 (Tier 2)
        • $200,000 – $250,000 (Tier 1)
