Sr. Platform Engineer

Jobgether · US

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Sr. Platform Engineer based in the United States.

This role sits at the core of a modern engineering organization, focused on building and scaling the internal developer platform that enables product teams to ship faster, safer, and with higher reliability. You will design and operate the foundational systems that power service provisioning, cloud infrastructure, and CI/CD workflows across the company. The environment is highly collaborative and product-minded, with a strong emphasis on developer experience and platform adoption at scale. A key part of the role involves evolving traditional platform tooling into AI-native systems, enabling both engineers and agentic systems to operate seamlessly. You will work closely with multiple engineering squads to define “golden paths” that standardize best practices across services and deployments. This is a high-impact position where your work directly shapes engineering velocity, system reliability, and the future of AI-assisted software delivery.

Accountabilities:

Design, build, and evolve the internal developer platform, including service provisioning, CI/CD systems, Kubernetes infrastructure, and cloud-native tooling. Drive adoption of scalable “golden paths” that standardize how teams build, deploy, and operate services across the organization.

  • Maintain and extend service provisioning systems, including Backstage-based service catalogs and templates
  • Develop and scale AI-native platform capabilities such as agent-ready workflows, service registries, and MCP-backed APIs
  • Lead service mesh adoption (e.g., Istio), including traffic management, security policies, and rollout strategies
  • Define and enforce platform guardrails using policy-as-code, CI checks, security baselines, and developer scorecards
  • Own and operate core infrastructure components including Kubernetes clusters, Terraform-based IaC, and CI/CD pipelines
  • Partner with product engineering teams to design self-service workflows and improve developer experience
  • Lead large-scale migrations, framework upgrades, and deprecations across distributed systems
  • Instrument and track platform and developer productivity metrics to guide roadmap decisions
  • Requirements:

5+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, SRE, DevOps, or Software Engineering roles focused on building and operating large-scale distributed systems. Strong hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure and developer tooling is essential.

    • Strong expertise with Kubernetes, cloud platforms (AWS preferred), and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform
    • Experience with developer portals or service catalogs (Backstage or similar) and templated service provisioning
    • Proficiency in at least one programming language such as Go, Python, Java, or TypeScript
    • Experience designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and multi-repository software systems
    • Deep understanding of observability tooling and practices (metrics, logging, tracing, SLOs)
    • Familiarity with service mesh technologies such as Istio, including production rollout experience
    • Experience building or enabling AI-assisted software delivery systems or agent-ready infrastructure is highly valued
    • Strong communication skills with a product mindset focused on developer experience and adoption
    • Ability to lead cross-team initiatives, migrations, and platform standardization efforts
    • Benefits:

      • Competitive salary with equity participation
      • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage
      • Unlimited PTO, company holidays, and mental health days
      • 401(k) retirement plan with employer match
      • Employee Stock Purchase Program (ESPP)
      • Parental leave and family support benefits
      • Offsite team retreats and collaborative engineering culture
      • Strong focus on developer experience, innovation, and AI-native platform evolution
      • Inclusive and flexible remote-first work environment
