This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Cloud Infrastructure Architect (AWS) based in the United States.

In this role, you will define and shape the cloud foundation supporting a large-scale federal enterprise data platform modernization initiative. You will be responsible for architecting secure, scalable, and highly available AWS environments that enable mission-critical data and analytics workloads. This position combines deep technical architecture expertise with hands-on design leadership across networking, infrastructure resilience, and platform optimization. You will collaborate with engineers, cybersecurity specialists, and data teams to build robust cloud solutions aligned with strict regulatory requirements. The role requires strong experience in designing end-to-end AWS architectures, with a focus on performance, security, and operational excellence. You will also play a key role in establishing architectural standards, guiding modernization efforts, and ensuring long-term platform sustainability in a highly regulated environment.

Accountabilities

  • Design and oversee AWS cloud infrastructure architecture supporting enterprise-scale data platform modernization and operations.
  • Define and implement network architecture using VPCs, subnets, routing strategies, security groups, PrivateLink, and related AWS networking components.
  • Architect and support high availability, disaster recovery, backup, and business continuity solutions for mission-critical systems.
  • Develop and enforce Infrastructure as Code standards using Terraform to ensure scalable and repeatable infrastructure deployments.
  • Collaborate with cloud engineers, data engineers, and cybersecurity teams to deliver secure, compliant, and high-performing cloud solutions.
  • Lead infrastructure modernization initiatives, including performance optimization, capacity planning, and lifecycle management strategies.
  • Establish and maintain architecture documentation, technical standards, and operational best practices.
  • Participate in architecture reviews, design governance, deployment planning, and operational readiness assessments.
  • Support observability, monitoring, and infrastructure health strategies across cloud environments.
  • Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
    • Minimum of 7 years of experience in cloud infrastructure, systems engineering, or platform architecture roles.
    • At least 5 years of hands-on experience designing and supporting AWS cloud environments.
    • Strong expertise in AWS networking, compute, storage, security, and hybrid cloud architecture.
    • Proven experience implementing Infrastructure as Code using Terraform or similar automation tools.
    • Deep understanding of cloud architecture principles including scalability, resilience, fault tolerance, and performance optimization.
    • Experience designing and supporting highly available, enterprise-grade cloud environments.
    • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills in complex distributed systems.
    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate technical architecture into clear documentation and stakeholder alignment.
    • Experience working in federal government or highly regulated environments is strongly preferred.
    • Familiarity with Kubernetes, EKS, CI/CD pipelines, DevSecOps practices, and large-scale data platforms such as Databricks is a plus.
    • AWS certifications such as Solutions Architect Associate, Solutions Architect Professional, or Advanced Networking are preferred.
    • Knowledge of compliance frameworks such as FedRAMP, FISMA, and NIST is highly desirable.
