This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Manager, Operations Technology based in United States.

This Senior Manager, Operations Technology role serves as the technical owner and design authority for operational technology across a fleet of utility-scale energy storage assets.
You will define, standardize, and govern OT systems including SCADA, EMS, telemetry, and control infrastructure across the full asset lifecycle.
The role ensures operational readiness, cybersecurity alignment, and system reliability for a rapidly growing portfolio of battery energy storage projects.
You will act as the key bridge between operations, engineering, IT/security, compliance, and external vendors to ensure consistent execution of OT standards.
A major focus is enabling safe, reliable, and dispatch-ready operations through robust control systems, data quality, and incident resilience.
The position combines hands-on technical oversight with governance authority over OT changes, access, and vendor execution.
This is a high-impact leadership role where OT strategy directly supports grid reliability and energy transition outcomes.

Accountabilities:

  • Own the end-to-end operational technology lifecycle for the BESS fleet, including EMS, SCADA, site controllers, telemetry, communications, and monitoring systems.
  • Define, maintain, and enforce OT architecture standards, including system baselines, segmentation, naming conventions, telemetry structure, and monitoring requirements across all sites.
  • Lead OT design integration into development, EPC, and construction phases, ensuring requirements are embedded into project scopes and as-built deliverables.
  • Establish commissioning and turnover standards, including FAT/SAT requirements, telemetry validation, control readiness, and operational acceptance criteria.
  • Oversee 24/7 operational readiness by implementing runbooks, alarm management strategies, escalation pathways, and data quality controls supporting dispatch performance.
  • Manage OT vendor performance, including EMS providers, OEMs, and managed security services, ensuring SLA compliance, deliverable validation, and escalation resolution.
  • Own OT change management and configuration governance, including patching, release control, rollback planning, and audit-ready documentation.
  • Lead OT cybersecurity and access governance in coordination with IT/security teams, including remote access controls, identity management, and periodic access reviews.
  • Direct incident response and root cause analysis for OT disruptions, ensuring corrective actions, resilience improvements, and continuity planning across systems.
  • Provide audit-ready documentation and evidence packages supporting compliance and operational governance requirements.
  • Requirements:

    • 5–7+ years of experience in Operational Technology roles, with at least 3+ years in energy, renewables, energy storage, or critical infrastructure environments.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Controls Engineering, or a related technical discipline (ABET-accredited preferred).
    • Strong experience with OT systems such as SCADA, EMS, telemetry, and industrial control networks in 24/7 operational environments.
    • Knowledge of OT communication protocols including DNP3, Modbus, and ICCP, along with system integration concepts.
    • Proven experience in OT cybersecurity frameworks and governance (NIST, IEC 62443), including vendor access control and system hardening.
    • Hands-on experience with commissioning processes, including FAT/SAT, system turnover, and operational readiness validation.
    • Strong vendor management experience, including SLA oversight, performance tracking, and escalation management.
    • Demonstrated ability to lead OT incident response, perform structured root cause analysis, and implement long-term corrective actions.
    • Experience managing OT change control processes, including configuration management, patching, and release governance.
    • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to coordinate across technical, operational, and executive stakeholders.
    • Experience working in ISO/RTO environments (CAISO, ERCOT, or similar) strongly preferred.
    • Benefits:

      • Competitive base salary of approximately $150,000 with eligibility for up to 25% annual bonus.
      • 401(k) retirement plan with 6% employer match.
      • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance coverage.
      • 20 vacation days, 5 sick days, and 9 paid holidays.
      • Monthly cell phone stipend.
      • Remote-first role within the continental United States, with occasional travel as required.
      • Opportunity to define and lead OT standards across a rapidly scaling energy storage fleet.
      • High-impact role supporting critical infrastructure and grid reliability in the clean energy transition.
