This Senior System Safety Engineer (Digital Engineering) role sits at the intersection of advanced safety engineering and next-generation AI-assisted workflows for complex autonomous systems.
You will contribute to the design and assurance of safety-critical systems deployed across industries such as automotive, aerospace, energy, and defense.
The role blends deep systems safety expertise with modern digital engineering tools to accelerate analysis, validation, and documentation processes.
You will leverage AI-enabled platforms to streamline traditional safety engineering tasks while ensuring rigorous compliance with global safety standards.
A key part of the role involves acting as a bridge between engineering execution and product development by improving tooling through real-world feedback.
You will also engage with high-profile clients to define operational concepts and ensure systems meet strict safety and performance expectations.

Accountabilities:
- Apply advanced system safety engineering methods to perform hazard analysis, risk assessment, and safety case development across complex autonomous and safety-critical systems.
- Utilize AI-assisted digital engineering platforms to support and optimize traditional safety analyses such as FHA, FTA, STPA, HARA, and FMECA, improving speed and consistency.
- Perform human-in-the-loop validation of AI-generated safety outputs, ensuring full technical accuracy, regulatory compliance, and alignment with industry standards.
- Define system and subsystem safety requirements, including safety architectures, Levels of Rigor (LoR), and traceability of mitigations through design, verification, and validation phases.
- Develop and deliver comprehensive safety documentation, including Safety Program Plans (SSPP), Safety Assessment Reports (SAR), and digital safety cases.
- Collaborate directly with product and software teams to provide feedback on tools, workflows, and platform features to enhance usability and engineering effectiveness.
- Support client engagements by guiding Concept of Operations (CONOPS) and Operational Design Domain (ODD) definition across industries such as defense, automotive, and energy.
- Ensure compliance with relevant functional safety and systems safety standards, including MIL-STD-882E, ISO 26262, ISO 21448 (SOTIF), ARP-4761, and DO-178 frameworks.
- 4–10 years of dedicated experience in system safety engineering, preferably in complex or safety-critical domains such as automotive, aerospace, defense, or industrial systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Systems Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
- Strong expertise in system safety methodologies including PHA, FHA, FTA, FMECA, STPA, and related hazard analysis techniques.
- Proven experience developing formal safety artifacts such as safety cases, SSPPs, and safety assessment reports in regulated environments.
- Deep familiarity with safety and compliance standards such as MIL-STD-882E, ISO 26262, ISO 21448, ARP-4761, and DO-178.
- Experience working with or interest in digital engineering, MBSE tools (e.g., Cameo), and modern Agile development environments.
- Strong analytical and documentation skills with exceptional attention to technical rigor and compliance detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work with AI-enabled tools or automation to improve engineering efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work across engineering, product, and customer-facing teams.
