This role is a strategic, client-facing finance leadership position where you will act as a fractional Controller for small to mid-sized businesses across a variety of industries. You will serve as a trusted advisor, helping business owners interpret financial data, improve profitability, and make informed strategic decisions. The position combines hands-on financial oversight with high-level advisory responsibilities, ensuring clients receive both accurate reporting and actionable insights. You will collaborate closely with internal accounting teams to ensure high-quality deliverables and seamless financial operations. The role also involves identifying risks, optimizing processes, and strengthening financial visibility for growing organizations. Accountabilities:

  • Serve as the primary financial advisor to clients, leading financial review meetings and providing insights on performance, KPIs, forecasts, and budgeting.
  • Oversee complex accounting matters, offering guidance on financial decisions and ensuring accuracy and compliance across client engagements.
  • Partner with internal accounting teams, including bookkeepers, staff accountants, and senior accountants, to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
  • Identify client risks, opportunities, and operational gaps, proactively recommending improvements to support growth and profitability.
  • Contribute to workflow coordination, prioritization, and cross-functional collaboration to ensure efficient service delivery.
  • Drive process improvements, documentation enhancements, and knowledge-sharing initiatives to improve internal and client-facing operations.
  • Stay current on financial trends, accounting standards, and business tools to continuously elevate client advisory services.
  • Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related business field.
    • 6–8 years of progressive accounting experience with strong Controller-level responsibilities.
    • Deep understanding of financial statements, KPIs, forecasting, budgeting, and month-end close processes.
    • Proficiency with accounting and business tools such as QuickBooks Online, Fathom, Shopify, Cin7, or Amazon-related platforms.
    • Experience working with small and mid-sized businesses, ideally in e-commerce, retail, startups, or project-based industries.
    • Strong leadership, coaching, and communication skills with the ability to guide both clients and internal teams.
    • Ability to manage multiple client relationships, prioritize effectively, and operate independently in a remote environment.
    • Strong analytical mindset with a focus on accuracy, problem-solving, and strategic financial thinking.
