We are looking for a talented and driven Manufacturing Engineer to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in developing and improving manufacturing processes for precision-machined components produced from a range of materials.
Working closely with Design Engineering, Product Engineering and Operations teams, you will be responsible for introducing robust manufacturing solutions, supporting continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring products are successfully transitioned into production with a strong focus on Quality, Cost and Delivery.
You will also contribute to automation projects, design-for-manufacture activities, and the implementation of Lean manufacturing principles across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and optimise manufacturing processes for precision-machined components.
- Create and maintain machining processes for complex components with tight tolerances.
- Support Continuous Improvement projects using Lean and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Drive process improvements focused on safety, quality, efficiency and cost reduction.
- Provide Design for Manufacture (DfM) guidance during product development.
- Support APQP activities, including DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans and MSA studies.
- Assist with PPAP activities and GD&T interpretation and application.
- Design and review tooling and fixturing solutions.
- Review and approve manufacturing documentation, including Work Instructions (WIs) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Create and maintain manufacturing routings within SAP/Solumina.
- Support root cause investigations and corrective action activities.
- Identify and deliver automation opportunities within the manufacturing environment.
- Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Design Engineering and Operations teams to ensure new products are production-ready.
- Support the day-to-day operation of the machine shop, minimising downtime caused by process issues.
- Assist in the delivery of process improvement and automation projects within the prismatic machining cell.
- Support the Lead and Senior Manufacturing Engineers in achieving departmental objectives and production targets.
Skills & Experience
We are looking for someone with strong technical expertise and a passion for continuous improvement. Ideally, you will have experience in:
Essential
- Manufacturing Engineering within a precision machining environment.
- CAD software such as SolidWorks or Siemens NX.
- CNC machining processes and manufacturing methods.
- Cutting tool selection and optimisation.
- Fixture and tooling design.
- Root cause analysis and corrective action methodologies.
- APQP and quality improvement tools.
- Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement techniques.
- Working collaboratively across engineering and production functions.
Desirable
- CAM programming experience, ideally Edgecam or Siemens NX.
- 5-axis milling process development.
- NC post-processing knowledge.
- SAP and/or Solumina experience.
- Six Sigma qualification or practical application experience.
- Experience implementing manufacturing automation solutions.
- Knowledge of PPAP, GD&T and DFSS methodologies.
