Senior Design Engineer

Jobgether · US

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Design Engineer based in United States.

This role sits at the intersection of product design and front-end engineering, shaping how learning-focused digital products are designed, built, and experienced at scale.
You will be responsible for both defining user experience direction and translating it into high-quality, production-ready interfaces that are accessible, consistent, and performant.
The position blends UX thinking with hands-on engineering, requiring strong fluency in design systems, modern front-end frameworks, and component-driven development.
You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including product, engineering, research, and content to turn complex educational problems into intuitive product experiences.
A strong focus is placed on building and maintaining scalable design systems that serve as the foundation for product consistency and speed of delivery.
This is a highly collaborative and craft-driven role ideal for someone who thrives at the boundary of design, code, and experimentation.

Accountabilities:

  • Own end-to-end design and front-end implementation of product features, from early concept through production-ready code.
  • Translate design concepts into accessible, pixel-accurate interfaces using modern front-end technologies such as React, TypeScript, HTML, and CSS.
  • Collaborate with product designers, engineers, and researchers to define user problems and create effective, scalable solutions.
  • Build, maintain, and evolve design systems as code, including component libraries and documentation (e.g., Storybook).
  • Ensure consistency, accessibility, and usability standards are applied across all product experiences.
  • Prototype complex interactions and motion to validate ideas and communicate design intent clearly.
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure technical feasibility and alignment across the product lifecycle.
  • Contribute to shared design principles and best practices that improve quality and scalability across teams.
  • Requirements:

    • 6+ years of experience spanning product/UX design and front-end engineering, with strong depth in both disciplines.
    • Expert-level proficiency in Figma combined with hands-on experience writing production-grade front-end code (React, TypeScript, modern HTML/CSS).
    • Proven ability to take designs from concept to shipped, accessible, and pixel-accurate implementation.
    • Strong understanding of web and mobile web technologies, including component-based architecture and design systems.
    • Experience building and maintaining design systems as code, including Storybook or similar frameworks.
    • Knowledge of accessibility standards such as WCAG and ability to apply them in both design and development.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively across product, engineering, UX research, data, and marketing teams.
    • Strong communication skills with a track record of giving and receiving actionable feedback.
    • Comfort using AI tools (e.g., Copilot, Cursor, Figma AI features, v0) to accelerate design and development workflows.
    • Nice to have: experience with motion design tools such as Rive and familiarity with animation principles.
    • Benefits:

      • Competitive base salary range of $105,000–$125,000 USD, plus incentive stock options
      • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance with employer premium contributions
      • Health savings account (HSA) contributions
      • Remote-first work environment with monthly home office tech stipend
      • Flexible paid time off, paid sick leave, and company holidays including winter break
      • 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching
      • Parental leave, fertility support, and adoption assistance programs
      • Wellness benefits including gym reimbursement, mental health support, and access to wellbeing apps
      • Annual learning and development budget for professional growth
      • Additional perks including pet insurance, legal support, and family wellbeing resources
