More about the role:
This role sits within the Corporate Sectors and Public Affairs team at Burson as a Social & Content Account Director. You will be working as part of a social media team for a leading technology company as well as a global FMCG business, with a focus on LinkedIn.
You will be responsible for developing social strategies that connect audience behaviour with brand objectives. Partnering closely with creative teams, account leaders, and clients, you will guide the direction of campaigns across platforms. Your work will influence content planning, creative development, community engagement, and measurement approaches.
We are looking for someone who is passionate about social platforms, embraces new content formats, has strong client management skills, and possesses the flexibility to work across diverse social channels.
What you'll do:
- Data-Driven Strategy: Develop and implement robust social media and digital engagement strategies through reputational analysis, trend forecasting and stakeholder mapping, ensuring alignment with business objectives and KPIs.
- Platform Planning: Lead and optimise strategic social platform planning for both large-scale, time-bound campaigns and continuous "always-on" engagement, defining channel-specific content ecosystems and targeting parameters.
- Insight & Trend Monitoring: Translate performance data, social listening and stakeholder sentiment into actionable recommendations, while proactively interpreting evolving trends, platform updates and audience behaviour to spot opportunities, anticipate reputation threats and advise on strategic pivots.
- Creative Collaboration: Partner with creative, design and editing teams to guide concepts and content that authentically resonate with target audiences and keep messaging reputationally relevant.
- Briefing & Copywriting: Create clear content briefs, develop compelling copy, advise on assets and content structure, and oversee a multi-region social calendar for a global LinkedIn company page.
- Client Management & Advisory: Persuasively present complex strategic frameworks and plans to secure buy-in, while managing day-to-day client communications, leading content workstreams, and keeping WIPs, calendars and internal coordination on track.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Embed into the Corporate and Public Affairs team, collaborating across specialisms to understand the factors shaping reputation — media, policy, regulation and issues.
- Community Contribution: Join and actively contribute to Burson's vibrant community of Social & Content practitioners in the London office to help grow and innovate the offering.
Experience that contributes to success:
- 5+ years of experience in organic social media, digital communications, and creative development (agency experience preferred).
- Adept at crafting compelling social copy and effective creative briefs.
- Ability to confidently dissect social listening and social performance data to unearth actionable insights.
- Exceptional communication, presentation, and storytelling skills, with a proven ability to present to senior clients with confidence and clarity.
- Relentless curiosity and a drive for proactive experimentation (testing new formats and tools).
- An active interest in and understanding of current affairs, politics, and the wider societal and cultural landscape.
