About the Role
The R&D Analyst, Universal Storage Backend (SaaS) is an embedded technical contributor within Veeam's Product Management organization, supporting the teams responsible for next-generation storage capabilities across Veeam's flagship and SaaS product lines. You will provide strong technical, architectural, and analytical expertise across data storage technologies, related APIs, security, release processes, and data-driven product insights.
This role sits at the intersection of on-premises enterprise reliability and modern SaaS-driven storage architectures. You will work closely with Product Managers and R&D engineers to validate design decisions, analyze product behavior, define requirements, and ensure that storage-related capabilities are built with the right level of quality, scalability, and security.
What You’ll Do
- Bring hands-on knowledge of technologies like Apache Iceberg, Databricks, ClickHouse, Elasticsearch, and relevant Veeam components (e.g. Unstructured data backup engine) into product analysis
- Provide structured input to PMs and R&D on storage feature scope, architecture options, integrations, and technology choices
- Validate approaches for data retention and lifecycle management
- Review encryption and key management concepts (data at rest/in transit) and raise risks/gaps
- Support analysis of malware/ransomware detection techniques relevant to storage and data protection
- Define and drive analysis for “backup target–near” features from investigation through delivery review
- Analyze and help maintain the product’s REST APIs (entities, auth patterns, versioning, usability, consistency) and keep API documentation current
- Support on‑prem release activities with analysis and documentation to keep teams aligned
- Use monitoring concepts (dashboards, KPIs, trends) to turn metrics into clear insights for prioritization and technical decisions
What You’ll Bring
- 3+ years of relevant experience in technical analysis/product analysis roles in software, storage, platform, or adjacent areas
- Strong knowledge of storage, encryption, and retention/lifecycle management in enterprise or SaaS environments
- Hands-on understanding of modern storage architectures: object storage, block storage, deduplication systems, and table formats (e.g., Apache Iceberg), including metadata concepts
- Strong grasp of REST API design (structure, authentication, versioning) and ability to assess API usability and consistency
- Understanding of ransomware/malware detection approaches and how they apply to storage/backup solutions
- Strong analytical thinking and structured reasoning; comfortable being accountable for recommendations and outputs
- Ability to build and use virtualization labs (e.g., VMware) to investigate system behavior independently
Technologies You’ll Work With
- Apache Iceberg
- Databricks
- ClickHouse
- Elasticsearch
- Azure DevOps
- Confluence
- AI-assisted tools (e.g., Copilot, ClaudeCode)
- Figma
Bonus Skills
- Understanding of SaaS release processes and how they differ from on‑prem enterprise releases
- Familiarity with Veeam products or related backup/recovery components
- Bachelor’s degree in CS / Software Engineering / Information Systems (or equivalent industry experience)
What You’ll Get
- 26 paid days off annually, plus 4 extra global VeeaMe Days for self-care and 24 paid volunteer hours annually through Veeam Cares
- Paid parental, maternity, and paternity leave
- Fully covered family medical plan, dental, rehab, and vaccinations

- Employer pension contribution via PPK
- Monthly Edenred allowance of 450 PLN for meals
- MultiSport card fully covered by Veeam, giving access to sports facilities nationwide
