QA Engineering Team Lead

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a QA Engineering Team Lead based in India.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced quality assurance professional to lead testing initiatives within a fast-paced, technology-driven environment. In this role, you will drive software quality strategy, oversee both manual and automated testing efforts, and collaborate closely with engineering, product, and business teams to ensure the delivery of reliable, high-performing solutions. You will play a key role in mentoring QA engineers, optimizing testing processes, and influencing quality standards across multiple projects. The position offers significant leadership exposure, the chance to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, and the opportunity to shape quality engineering practices within a globally distributed team.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead quality assurance efforts across multiple software development projects, ensuring the delivery of high-quality products through effective test planning, execution, and validation.
  • Design, develop, and maintain comprehensive test strategies covering functional, regression, performance, accessibility, and non-functional testing requirements.
  • Drive test automation initiatives by building and enhancing automated test frameworks and scripts using modern testing tools and technologies.
  • Collaborate closely with developers, product owners, and stakeholders to define testing approaches aligned with business objectives and technical requirements.
  • Review test cases, automation scripts, and testing outcomes to ensure adequate coverage, accuracy, and adherence to quality standards.
  • Manage defect tracking, reporting, and resolution processes while providing visibility into testing progress and quality risks.
  • Analyze quality metrics and testing results to identify trends, recommend improvements, and enhance overall software quality.
  • Participate actively in Agile ceremonies and support continuous improvement efforts across engineering and QA functions.
  • Mentor and coach QA team members, establish best practices, and contribute to team development, engagement, and performance.
  • Partner with leadership on quality strategy, resource planning, hiring activities, and alignment of quality objectives with business goals.
  • Requirements

    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
    • 5+ years of experience in Quality Assurance with strong expertise in both manual and automated testing methodologies.
    • 1–2 years of experience in a formal people leadership role, or equivalent experience leading technical teams and mentoring engineers.
    • Strong hands-on experience with test automation tools and frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, or Appium.
    • Experience working within Agile/Scrum software development environments.
    • Advanced written and verbal communication skills in English.
    • Proven ability to analyze complex systems, identify quality risks, and resolve testing challenges effectively.
    • Strong understanding of software testing lifecycles, defect management, and quality engineering best practices.
    • Experience defining QA metrics, improving testing processes, and driving quality initiatives at scale is highly desirable.
    • Familiarity with AI-powered productivity tools and an understanding of large language models (LLMs) and their applications within quality engineering is considered an advantage.
    • Excellent leadership, collaboration, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
