KBR · Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

Title:

 Environmental Scientist

The Opportunity

You will join our Melbourne office after we recently secured major projects across multiple sectors. This role will suit a consultant who has experience across various environmental disciplines including approvals. You will work as part of a multidisciplinary team acting as a trusted advisor directly with clients and government agencies across VIC. Experience with ecology will also be highly regarded.

In the capacity of Environmental Scientist/Environmental Consultant, you will contribute insights, guidance, and expertise to studies and engineering ventures encompassing water, rail, and road projects. Collaborating with internal and external professionals, you will formulate environmental solutions and provide technical leadership on a broad spectrum of issues, spanning soil, air, noise, stormwater, wastewater, flora and fauna, wetlands, lakes and streams, catchment and salinity management, water quality, and Acid Sulfate Soils (ASS). Proficiency in one or more of these areas is a specialised aspect of this role.

The position primarily supports projects in Victoria but may extend assistance to other KBR locations. It involves maintaining strong client relationships, identifying opportunities, contributing to proposals, budgets, and plans, managing stakeholders, and engaging with regulatory authorities.

Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Scope, plan and conduct technical environment impact assessments in various environmental settings
  • Lead and carry out fieldwork activities such as soil, surface water, sediment and or ecology assessments in terrestrial and marine environments
  • Learn, understand and apply local, state and federal environmental legislation, policies, and guidelines to your project deliverables
  • Provide input to, and over time lead, the provision of advice on environment and planning matters to support timely delivery of KBR’s design projects. This may include assessment of local, state and or federal legislation and prepare approval application documentation
  • Contribute to preparation of proposals and bids for securing new and ongoing work
  • Participate in ad hoc fieldwork, at times in remote locations
