This role plays a critical part in ensuring the quality and reliability of mission-critical connectivity infrastructure across advanced data center environments. The technician is responsible for validating structured cabling, fiber, copper, and network systems to ensure full compliance with project specifications, design standards, and quality control plans. Operating in highly technical construction environments, the role combines hands-on field inspection with detailed documentation and reporting. You will collaborate closely with engineers, contractors, and client stakeholders to monitor installation progress and resolve quality issues in real time. The position requires strong technical judgment, independence in the field, and the ability to operate in fast-paced, high-accountability projects. With extensive travel across the U.S., this role offers exposure to large-scale, complex infrastructure deployments that directly support next-generation digital ecosystems.

Accountabilities:

Responsible for end-to-end QA/QC oversight of connectivity infrastructure, ensuring compliance with design documents, industry standards, and project specifications across structured cabling, fiber, copper, and network systems.

  • Conduct on-site inspections and validation of telecommunications installations across all project phases including rough-in, cabling, termination, splicing, and closeout.
  • Monitor contractor performance, ensure adherence to QA/QC plans, and prevent non-conforming work from progressing.
  • Collaborate with connectivity engineers, general contractors, and vendors to resolve field issues and maintain installation quality.
  • Support development and execution of inspection plans, audit readiness activities, and QA/QC checklists across project lifecycles.
  • Review design submittals, shop drawings, and test documentation while verifying compliance with approved specifications and standards.
  • Track project milestones, support reporting, and maintain accurate QA/QC records in digital quality management systems.
  • Produce structured reporting including weekly QA/QC updates, issue logs, and closeout documentation while driving resolution of deficiencies.
  • Requirements:

    This role requires strong technical expertise in telecommunications infrastructure combined with field execution experience in complex construction environments.

    • Experience in structured cabling, fiber optics, copper systems, and telecommunications installation, testing, and validation.
    • Familiarity with OSP/ISP pathways, splicing, termination, and testing tools such as OTDR, light source, and power meters.
    • Ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications, and QA/QC documentation with high attention to detail.
    • Proficiency with MS Office and construction quality platforms such as Autodesk Construction Cloud or similar tools.
    • Strong organizational, reporting, and documentation skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in parallel.
    • Excellent communication skills for coordination with contractors, engineers, and client stakeholders in both field and remote settings.
    • Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and operate effectively under deadlines and changing site conditions.
    • Certifications such as NFPA 70E, OSHA 10/30, or BICSI/FOA are preferred or required depending on project needs.
