Tax Manager

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Tax Manager based in the United States.

This role is centered on leading high-quality tax compliance and advisory engagements within a dynamic, client-focused professional services environment. You will be responsible for managing end-to-end tax processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely delivery across a portfolio of clients. The position requires strong technical tax expertise combined with the ability to coordinate teams, guide staff, and serve as the primary point of contact for clients. You will play a key role in reviewing complex tax work, identifying risks and opportunities, and ensuring adherence to professional standards. The environment is highly collaborative and relationship-driven, with a strong emphasis on proactive communication and service excellence. In addition, you will contribute to internal initiatives, mentoring efforts, and continuous improvement of tax processes. This is a leadership role with direct impact on client outcomes and team development.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead and manage tax compliance engagements, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and adherence to firm and regulatory standards.
  • Plan, schedule, and coordinate tax engagements, aligning client needs with internal resources and deadlines.
  • Serve as the primary tax point of contact for clients, ensuring proactive communication and high-quality service delivery.
  • Review tax returns, workpapers, research, and provision calculations prepared by team members to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Communicate regularly with clients and engagement partners regarding project status, risks, and service opportunities.
  • Provide supervision, training, and technical guidance to staff and senior accountants to support their development.
  • Maintain strong technical expertise across relevant tax areas and industry-specific requirements.
  • Participate in internal initiatives, contributing to process improvement and firm-wide projects.
  • Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting is required.
    • CPA certification is required.
    • Minimum of 5+ years of relevant tax experience in public accounting or professional services environments.
    • Strong knowledge of tax compliance processes, review standards, and regulatory requirements.
    • Experience reviewing complex tax returns, research, and related deliverables.
    • Strong leadership skills with experience mentoring and supervising junior team members.
    • Excellent communication and client management skills, with a proactive and service-oriented mindset.
    • Strong proficiency in tax and accounting tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Adobe, Caseware, Axcess, RIA, GoFileRoom, or similar platforms).
    • Ability to manage multiple engagements, meet deadlines, and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
