This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Corporate Development M&A based in India.

This role sits at the core of a dynamic M&A origination engine focused on identifying, engaging, and building relationships with founders and executives of vertical market software companies. You will play a key role in sourcing acquisition opportunities by combining research, outreach, and relationship management to support long-term portfolio growth. The position offers exposure to the full M&A deal-sourcing lifecycle, working closely with senior leadership and experienced deal professionals. It is ideal for someone who thrives in a highly entrepreneurial, people-driven environment where curiosity, persistence, and communication skills are critical. You will actively shape the acquisition pipeline by initiating conversations that can lead to transformative transactions. Accountabilities:

In this role, you will be responsible for driving M&A origination efforts and building a strong pipeline of acquisition opportunities across the software ecosystem.

  • Identify and research vertical market software companies aligned with the investment thesis and strategic priorities
  • Initiate and nurture long-term relationships with founders, CEOs, executives, and key industry stakeholders
  • Execute structured outreach campaigns, managing communication schedules and meeting engagement targets
  • Build and maintain relationships with bankers, advisors, and ecosystem partners to strengthen deal sourcing channels
  • Engage target companies to spark acquisition discussions at the appropriate time and progress opportunities through the pipeline
  • Support qualification of potential targets by assessing strategic fit and early-stage interest
  • Coordinate occasional travel to meet stakeholders and deepen relationships in person
  • Requirements:

    The ideal candidate combines strong business development experience with excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, and the ability to thrive in a relationship-driven M&A environment.

    • Minimum 4 years of experience in business development (IT/technology preferred) or M&A deal origination
    • Strong interest in relationship building, lead generation, and strategic research
    • Basic understanding of M&A processes and financial concepts (preferred but not mandatory)
    • Proven ability to manage pipelines, plan outreach, and consistently drive opportunities forward
    • Highly proactive, resilient, and comfortable with cold outreach and high-volume engagement
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with strong professional etiquette
    • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple ongoing initiatives
    • Familiarity with CRM tools such as Salesforce is an advantage
    • Bachelor’s or postgraduate degree from a reputable institution (Business, Finance, or Economics is a plus)
    • Fluent in English
