The Purpose:
As Senior Engineering Manager for the Card Processing domain, you will lead the engineering teams responsible for building, operating and evolving PPRO's local card-rail capabilities. You will partner closely with Product, Security, Risk & Compliance and Commercial teams to deliver reliable, secure and scalable payment solutions that enable PSPs and merchants to sell globally.
In addition to leading your engineering organisation, you will act as an engineering leader within our São Paulo hub, helping foster a collaborative, inclusive engineering culture while supporting engineering excellence across teams.
You will balance technical leadership, operational execution and people development, creating an environment where managers and engineers can thrive, innovate and continuously improve.

What You Will Be Doing:
Lead Engineering Delivery
Lead multiple engineering teams to successfully deliver high-quality, secure and scalable card payment solutions.
Translate engineering and product strategy into clear execution plans, ensuring delivery aligns with customer and business priorities.
Drive predictable delivery through strong engineering practices, continuous improvement and data-informed decision making.
Partner with Product to balance customer value, technical excellence and delivery outcomes.
Drive Engineering Excellence
Champion modern software engineering practices including continuous delivery, automated testing and DevOps ownership.
Ensure teams embed observability, operational excellence and automated compliance throughout the software development lifecycle.
Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement and learning across teams.
Foster innovation by encouraging experimentation, learning and iterative improvement while maintaining platform reliability.
Lead and Develop High-Performing Teams
Lead, coach and develop Engineering Managers and engineers, creating clear growth opportunities and succession plans across your organisation.

Collaborate Across the Organisation
Build strong partnerships with Product, Commercial, Partnerships and other Engineering teams to deliver shared outcomes.
Navigate complex stakeholder relationships through clear, transparent communication.
Adapt team priorities as organisational and market needs evolve while maintaining alignment with broader engineering objectives.
Support the São Paulo engineering community by fostering collaboration, inclusion and knowledge sharing across teams.
What We Are Looking For:
Proven experience leading multiple engineering teams, including developing Engineering Managers, within an API-first and high-availability environment.
Experience delivering software within payments, fintech or another regulated industry is highly desirable.
Strong technical background with cloud-native architectures, microservices, Java, Spring Boot and AWS.
Experience driving engineering excellence through CI/CD, DevOps, observability and operational best practices.
Demonstrated ability to lead through influence, balancing technical, product and business priorities.
Strong customer focus with the ability to connect engineering decisions to customer outcomes.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders across cultures.
Fluency in English and Portuguese.
Nice to Have:
Understanding of PSP economics, Latin American acquiring and global payment ecosystems.
Experience with card scheme integrations, authorisation, clearing & settlement, disputes and PCI DSS.
Experience leading geographically distributed engineering teams.
