Head of HR Operations and Systems

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Head of HR Operations and Systems based in United States.

This role is a foundational leadership position responsible for building, scaling, and continuously improving the HR Operations and People Systems function within a high-growth, product-driven organization. You will act as a strategic and hands-on leader, owning the full HR operations ecosystem, including systems, processes, analytics, compliance, and employee experience design. The role requires someone who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys operating at both a tactical and strategic level, and is passionate about leveraging technology, data, and automation to transform HR operations. You will serve as a key thought partner to senior leadership, helping shape how people processes evolve as the organization scales. A strong emphasis is placed on operational excellence, experimentation, and continuous improvement across the entire employee lifecycle. You will also act as an internal change agent, driving adoption of new tools, workflows, and practices across the business. This is a highly visible role that combines systems expertise, analytical thinking, and deep empathy for employees.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead and build the HR Operations and People Systems function, defining scalable processes, frameworks, and operational standards
  • Own and optimize the HR technology ecosystem, including system selection, configuration, integration, and continuous improvement
  • Design and deliver people analytics, dashboards, and reporting to support data-driven decision-making across the organization
  • Develop and continuously improve core HR processes including onboarding, performance management, employee lifecycle operations, and compliance workflows
  • Drive automation and operational efficiency initiatives using technology, data, and AI-enabled solutions
  • Partner closely with leadership, People teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to align HR operations with business strategy
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant employment laws and maintain accurate employee data, records, and reporting standards
  • Lead change management efforts, including communication, documentation, and adoption of new HR systems and processes
  • Support employee engagement, learning, and development initiatives that enhance organizational effectiveness
  • Requirements:

    • 8+ years of experience in HR Operations, People Operations, or HR Systems roles within fast-scaling, technology-driven organizations
    • Proven experience owning HR systems, HRIS platforms, and integrated people tech stacks
    • Strong background in HR analytics, reporting, and data-driven decision-making
    • Experience designing and improving HR processes across the employee lifecycle, including performance management and compliance
    • Demonstrated ability to operate in ambiguous, fast-changing environments with a builder mindset
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization
    • Experience driving organizational change and improving adoption of systems and processes
    • Strong understanding of HR compliance requirements and operational risk management
    • Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution in a small, high-impact team environment
