Sr. Product Manager - Commerce Operations

Jobgether · India

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Product Manager - Commerce Operations based in India.

This role sits at the core of a large-scale commerce platform, owning the systems that power how businesses manage orders, subscriptions, transactions, inventory, payments, and financial records at global scale. You will define and evolve the operational backbone that ensures every commerce flow is reliable, composable, and extensible across multiple products and customer types. The role combines deep product thinking with strong systems design, covering both user-facing merchant workflows and backend financial infrastructure. You will shape how commerce data is structured, reconciled, and exposed across internal teams and external developers via APIs. Operating in a fast-paced, remote-first environment, you will collaborate across engineering, design, payments, and platform teams to build foundational infrastructure used by millions of businesses worldwide. This is a high-impact role with ownership over mission-critical systems that directly influence platform scalability and financial integrity.

Accountabilities:

  • Own the end-to-end Commerce Operations roadmap, defining and evolving core systems across orders, subscriptions, transactions, inventory, fulfillment, taxation, coupons, and gift cards as composable platform primitives.
  • Lead the design and lifecycle of subscription systems, including renewals, upgrades, downgrades, pauses, billing flows, and complex pricing models such as usage-based and tiered subscriptions.
  • Define and build the internal accounting and ledger layer as the system of record for all financial transactions, ensuring accuracy, traceability, and reconciliation across the platform.
  • Design seamless integrations with third-party accounting tools, ensuring reliable data sync, correct field mapping, and minimal manual intervention for users.
  • Own order management and fulfillment logic, including state machines for creation, modification, cancellation, returns, and partial fulfillment across commerce channels.
  • Develop scalable inventory, taxation, promotions, coupons, and gift card systems that function consistently across global geographies and business models.
  • Define and manage the public API layer for commerce operations, ensuring it is stable, well-versioned, and usable by external developers and marketplace partners.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal platform teams to ensure consistent data flow and reliable triggering of downstream commerce and financial events.
  • Requirements

The ideal candidate brings strong product leadership experience in platform, fintech, or commerce systems, with the ability to think in terms of scalable infrastructure rather than isolated features. You should be comfortable working across technical and business domains, especially where financial integrity and system design intersect.

    • 7+ years of product management experience in SaaS, platform, or infrastructure-heavy environments.
    • Deep understanding of commerce systems such as order management, subscriptions, billing, payments, inventory, or financial/ledger systems.
    • Strong grasp of financial system concepts including reconciliation, transaction modeling, and accounting principles.
    • Experience defining and owning APIs used by external developers, including versioning and contract design.
    • Ability to design scalable platform systems with long-term extensibility in mind.
    • Strong analytical thinking with the ability to translate complex workflows into structured product requirements.
    • Excellent cross-functional communication and stakeholder management skills.
    • Proven ownership mindset with ability to drive large, interconnected product areas independently.
    • Benefits

      • Fully remote, global-first work environment
      • Opportunity to own a critical commerce infrastructure layer used by millions of businesses worldwide
      • High autonomy with ownership over roadmap and platform direction
      • Strong exposure to large-scale distributed systems and financial infrastructure
      • Collaborative, fast-paced engineering and product culture
      • Long-term career growth in a high-scale SaaS platform environment
      • Work on foundational systems shaping global commerce operations.
