Senior Solutions Engineer - Payward Services

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Solutions Engineer - Payward Services based in Canada.

This is a high-impact pre-sales technical role within a cutting-edge financial infrastructure environment focused on digital assets and open finance. You will act as a key technical partner throughout the sales cycle, working closely with sales and solutions leadership to design, validate, and deliver winning architectures for enterprise clients. The role combines deep API and systems expertise with strong customer-facing execution, including discovery sessions, solution design, and proof-of-concept development. You will help financial institutions, fintechs, and platforms integrate trading, custody, payments, and liquidity services through a unified infrastructure layer. A significant part of your work will involve translating complex customer requirements into scalable technical solutions and ensuring smooth handoff to implementation teams. You will also contribute feedback from the field to influence product evolution and solution playbooks. This is a highly collaborative and execution-driven role at the intersection of engineering, sales, and financial technology innovation.

Accountabilities

  • Lead technical discovery sessions with prospective enterprise clients, mapping their architecture, compliance needs, and integration requirements to platform capabilities.
  • Design and validate tailored solutions across APIs, integrations, and custom configurations, including hands-on proof-of-concept development to support deal closure.
  • Collaborate closely with sales and solutions leadership to execute the full pre-sales motion, from qualification through to technical win.
  • Produce solution design documentation, RFP responses, and technical materials that clearly communicate proposed architectures and integration approaches.
  • Ensure structured and high-quality handoff to implementation teams, including documentation, knowledge transfer, and alignment on delivered solutions.
  • Capture customer feedback and recurring technical needs to inform product, engineering, and solutions strategy improvements.
  • Requirements

    • 4+ years of experience in solutions engineering, solutions architecture, or technical pre-sales roles within API-driven or infrastructure-focused companies.
    • Strong understanding of REST and WebSocket APIs, authentication models (OAuth, JWT), webhook systems, and integration debugging practices.
    • Proven experience designing and delivering complex integrations for fintechs, banks, neobanks, or similar technical enterprise clients.
    • Ability to scope, build, and present proof-of-concepts that demonstrate technical feasibility and drive commercial outcomes.
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to lead discovery calls, technical deep-dives, and structured handoff sessions with different stakeholders.
    • Experience documenting solution architectures and translating technical concepts into clear business and engineering narratives.
