Key Accounts Director

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Key Accounts Director based in the United States.

This role is responsible for leading key account strategy and field execution efforts to expand access, improve commercial performance, and strengthen partnerships across complex healthcare systems. You will serve as a strategic liaison between field sales teams, internal stakeholders, and key decision-makers within hospitals, clinics, and integrated healthcare organizations. The position requires a strong blend of commercial acumen, market access expertise, and relationship management at senior and executive levels. You will analyze market dynamics, identify growth opportunities, and help shape field strategy in collaboration with cross-functional teams. This role also plays a critical part in ensuring alignment across channel, reimbursement, and patient access functions. It is well suited for a seasoned commercial leader who thrives in complex healthcare environments and is comfortable operating across multiple stakeholder layers.

Accountabilities:

  • Develop and execute key account strategies across a defined geography to support product access, growth, and commercial objectives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with senior stakeholders including C-suite leaders, medical directors, pharmacy leaders, and clinical decision-makers.
  • Partner closely with field sales, channel strategy, payor, patient support, and government affairs teams to align execution plans.
  • Serve as a key liaison for customer escalations, reimbursement issues, and logistical challenges related to product access and distribution.
  • Analyze market trends, account data, and field insights to identify growth opportunities and inform strategic planning.
  • Support field leadership by providing commercial insights, guidance, and performance tracking aligned with defined KPIs.
  • Lead or participate in key meetings, conferences, and cross-functional business reviews to support alignment and strategy execution.
  • Develop and maintain territory business plans while ensuring compliance with all policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Drive special projects and strategic initiatives as assigned to support broader commercial goals.
  • Requirements:

    • Minimum of 10 years of pharmaceutical, healthcare, or medical sales experience, with demonstrated success in key account or field leadership roles.
    • Strong understanding of healthcare systems, hospital networks, and integrated delivery models.
    • Experience working with reimbursement pathways, specialty pharmacy, buy-and-bill models, and managed markets.
    • Proven ability to engage and influence senior-level stakeholders across healthcare organizations.
    • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including market access, hub services, and field reimbursement support.
    • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data and market insights into actionable strategies.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
    • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
    • Strong organizational, time management, and strategic planning capabilities.
    • Ability to travel extensively (75%+), including overnight and multi-site travel as required.
