This role is centered on managing and growing a portfolio of strategic healthcare clients within a self-insured TPA environment, ensuring long-term retention, satisfaction, and revenue expansion. The position requires a trusted advisor who can navigate complex client relationships, engage with senior executives and brokers, and deliver high levels of service excellence across the full client lifecycle. From implementation through renewal, the Client Manager plays a critical role in ensuring smooth operations, resolving issues, and identifying opportunities for upsell and program enhancement. The role also involves presenting solutions to prospective clients alongside sales teams and acting as a key voice in finalist discussions. Operating in a highly consultative and client-facing environment, this position blends relationship management, problem-solving, and strategic account growth. The ideal candidate is proactive, analytical, and highly skilled at influencing stakeholders while delivering measurable client outcomes.
Accountabilities:
- Manage and grow a portfolio of 12–20 healthcare client accounts across the full lifecycle, from onboarding through renewal and expansion.
- Develop and maintain long-term consultative relationships with client executives, brokers, and key stakeholders.
- Drive client retention and revenue growth by identifying upsell opportunities and ensuring high service satisfaction.
- Partner with sales teams during finalist presentations and support client-facing solution discussions when needed.
- Act as the primary escalation point for issue resolution, ensuring timely and effective problem-solving across client needs.
- Collaborate on internal cross-functional projects that improve client experience and operational efficiency.
- Monitor market trends and regulatory developments (ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, ACA) to better position solutions and services.
- Ensure seamless coordination between internal teams and external clients throughout implementation and ongoing service delivery.
- Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of experience in health insurance, TPA, or client management roles; or High School diploma with 9+ years of relevant experience.
- Strong understanding of self-funded health plans, employee benefits, and stop-loss insurance (preferred).
- Knowledge of healthcare regulatory frameworks including ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, and ACA.
- Proven ability to manage complex client relationships and engage effectively with senior-level executives.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organizational and time management abilities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to travel up to 25% as required.
- Self-motivated, results-driven, and capable of working independently in a remote environment.
- Active state insurance license is a plus.
- Annual salary range: $67,600 – $127,000
