This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Staff Engineer, ERP Workday (Functional Consultant) based in India.
In this role, you will act as a senior functional authority for Workday HCM within a complex, global enterprise environment, driving the design, configuration, and optimization of HR technology solutions. You will be responsible for translating business needs into scalable Workday implementations that support end-to-end employee lifecycle and compensation processes. This position requires strong functional depth combined with strategic thinking, as you will influence system design decisions and long-term HR technology evolution. You will collaborate closely with HR, IT, and business leadership teams to ensure alignment between system capabilities and organizational goals. In addition to hands-on configuration and support, you will lead enhancements, releases, and production support activities in a fast-paced Agile environment. This role offers the opportunity to mentor junior consultants while contributing to large-scale transformation initiatives across global HR operations.
Accountabilities:
- Lead the configuration, maintenance, and continuous improvement of Workday HCM modules, ensuring alignment with business and HR transformation goals.
- Act as a senior Subject Matter Expert for Workday Core HCM, Compensation, Advanced Compensation, Organization Management, and employee lifecycle processes.
- Gather, analyze, and translate business requirements into scalable and efficient Workday solutions.
- Drive Workday release cycles, including impact assessment, testing, validation, and deployment support activities.
- Collaborate with HR, IT, and business stakeholders to design, implement, and optimize Workday functionalities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex functional and configuration issues across Workday environments.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation including requirements, process flows, test plans, and configuration guides.
- Lead workshops, stakeholder sessions, and training activities to ensure effective adoption of Workday solutions.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to junior consultants and support continuous improvement of delivery practices.
Requirements:
- 9+ years of experience in Workday HCM configuration, support, and functional consulting roles.
- Strong hands-on expertise in Workday Core HCM, Compensation, Advanced Compensation, and Organization Management.
- Proven ability to translate complex business requirements into scalable Workday solutions.
- Deep understanding of Workday architecture, business processes, security framework, and configuration best practices.
- Experience managing Workday enhancements, releases, testing cycles, and production support in enterprise environments.
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a track record of resolving complex functional issues.
- Experience working in Agile delivery environments and managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Leadership experience with the ability to mentor and develop team members.
- Workday HCM certification is preferred.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Availability to work in US/UK business hour overlap (preferred shift: 1:00 PM – 10:00 PM IST).
