This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Platform Engineer (Network and Edge Services) based in the United States.
This role sits at the core of a global, security-first infrastructure platform responsible for powering critical networking and edge systems at massive scale. You will design and operate the foundational network services that enable secure, reliable connectivity across distributed cloud environments, including DNS, CDN, ingress, and service mesh layers. The role blends deep platform engineering with product thinking, as you build self-service capabilities that empower internal engineering teams to manage their own networking needs. You will help define how traffic flows securely and efficiently across systems that serve millions of users worldwide.
Working in a highly collaborative, remote-first engineering environment, you will partner closely with security, product, and infrastructure teams to translate complex requirements into scalable platform solutions.
This is a high-impact role where your work directly influences system reliability, performance, and security posture across the entire engineering ecosystem.
You will also contribute to shaping engineering standards, observability practices, and long-term architectural direction for network and edge services.
Accountabilities:
You will own the design, development, and evolution of core networking and edge infrastructure, ensuring systems are secure, observable, and highly resilient at scale. This includes building both foundational platform services and the self-service abstractions that enable other teams to operate independently.
- Design and operate core network infrastructure across DNS, CDN, ingress/egress, load balancing, and service mesh layers
- Build self-service networking platforms and tooling that enable internal teams to provision and manage network resources independently
- Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code solutions (e.g., Terraform) to automate provisioning and configuration
- Define and implement observability standards, including SLIs/SLOs, monitoring, and alerting for network systems
- Participate in on-call rotations, lead incident response, and drive postmortems and reliability improvements
- Collaborate cross-functionally with security, product, and platform teams to translate requirements into scalable network solutions
- Ensure security-by-design principles including least privilege access, encryption in transit, and attack surface reduction
- Drive architectural improvements across CDN, edge protection, service mesh, and wide-area connectivity systems
- Mentor engineers, lead design reviews, and contribute to a culture of technical excellence and shared ownership
Requirements:
The ideal candidate brings strong experience in cloud networking, distributed systems, and platform engineering at scale, with a proven ability to build reliable and secure infrastructure in production environments. You are comfortable operating across the full stack of modern internet infrastructure and thrive in high-autonomy environments.
- 5+ years of experience in platform engineering, cloud networking, or distributed systems at scale
- Deep expertise in internet and web infrastructure (DNS, CDN, WAF, load balancing, ingress, service mesh)
- Strong programming experience in Go or similar languages, plus Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform)
- Experience designing and operating highly available, observable systems with defined SLIs/SLOs
- Strong background in incident response, on-call operations, and postmortem-driven improvement
- Experience building secure infrastructure using least-privilege, encryption, and security-first design principles
- Familiarity with cloud networking and edge technologies (e.g., Cloudflare, CloudFront, Envoy, Linkerd) is a plus
- Experience building self-service platform abstractions for internal engineering teams
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across engineering, security, and product stakeholders
- Comfortable working in remote-first, fast-paced environments with a high degree of ownership
Benefits:
- Competitive base salary ranging approximately from $150,000 to $210,000 USD depending on experience and location
- Equity grants as part of the total compensation package
- Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
- Retirement savings plans with company contributions (e.g., 401(k))
- Generous paid time off and holidays
- Paid parental leave programs
- Remote-first work environment with flexibility and global collaboration
- Learning and development support for professional growth
- Access to additional wellness, recognition, and employee support programs.
