Accountabilities:
- Own the end-to-end architecture, development, and continuous evolution of a complex AI-native software platform, ensuring scalability, reliability, security, and performance.
- Define and enforce architectural standards across AI systems, including orchestration frameworks, API integrations, cloud infrastructure, real-time processing, and production deployment strategies.
- Evaluate emerging technologies, frameworks, third-party platforms, and AI capabilities to guide build-versus-buy decisions and future platform evolution.
- Actively contribute to engineering efforts through design reviews, code reviews, technical prototyping, architecture planning, and resolution of complex production issues.
- Lead the implementation and optimization of core platform services, integrations, and critical system components.
- Build, mentor, and scale a high-performing engineering team focused on technical excellence, innovation, accountability, and continuous learning.
- Establish engineering best practices, including automated testing, deployment pipelines, AI-assisted development workflows, monitoring, and operational excellence standards.
- Manage engineering resources, budgets, vendor relationships, and outsourced development partnerships while ensuring quality, security, and delivery expectations are met.
- Define, monitor, and improve key engineering performance indicators such as uptime, deployment frequency, latency, reliability, and incident response metrics.
- Collaborate closely with product, operations, and business leaders to align technical roadmaps with organizational objectives and customer needs.
- Represent engineering perspectives in executive discussions, translating technical considerations into clear business opportunities, risks, and strategic recommendations.
- Contribute to broader AI strategy initiatives, including responsible AI practices, emerging technologies, and long-term platform innovation.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 4 years in technical leadership roles with direct people management responsibilities.
- Proven hands-on experience designing, building, and operating AI, machine learning, natural language processing, or large-scale intelligent systems in production environments.
- Strong expertise with large language model (LLM) integrations, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), prompt engineering, AI orchestration frameworks, and model evaluation methodologies.
- Deep knowledge of cloud-native architecture and modern software engineering practices, particularly within AWS environments.
- Experience with serverless technologies, containerized applications, distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and scalable SaaS platforms.
- Proficiency in multiple modern programming languages and frameworks, including Python, C#, .NET, React, or similar technologies.
- Demonstrated success delivering highly available software products with strict performance, reliability, and operational requirements.
- Experience leading engineering teams through periods of growth, transformation, and organizational scale.
- Strong background managing external development partners, technology vendors, and complex technical delivery programs.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage both technical teams and executive leadership effectively.
- Experience in healthcare technology, regulated software environments, digital health, conversational AI, contact center technologies, or related domains is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with responsible AI frameworks, governance practices, model safety considerations, and human-in-the-loop systems is a plus.
- Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving abilities, and a leadership style that promotes collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
