This role is a high-impact leadership position responsible for shaping and scaling a high-performing engineering organization delivering complex digital products across SaaS and eCommerce environments. You will lead both frontend and backend engineers, ensuring consistent delivery quality, predictable execution, and strong technical standards across multiple concurrent projects. The role combines hands-on technical leadership with people management, requiring you to stay close to the code while coaching engineers to grow in autonomy, craftsmanship, and decision-making. You will play a central role in defining architecture, improving engineering processes, and building the systems that enable the team to scale effectively. Working closely with design, product, and client-facing teams, you will ensure clarity, alignment, and execution excellence across delivery cycles. This is a strategic and execution-focused role where leadership directly translates into product quality and client success.

Accountabilities:

The Senior Engineering Manager is responsible for leading engineering delivery, setting technical direction, and building a high-performing, autonomous engineering organization.

  • Set and maintain the technical bar across architecture, code quality, testing, and engineering standards.
  • Coach engineers on technical judgment, craftsmanship, and autonomy through reviews, feedback, and mentorship.
  • Own architecture and technical direction across diverse stacks, ensuring consistency and scalability.
  • Lead and participate in code reviews, fostering a strong culture of quality and early issue detection.
  • Plan and manage monthly delivery cycles, ensuring realistic commitments and predictable execution.
  • Build and evolve the engineering operating system, including processes, rituals, and performance tracking.
  • Drive engineering hiring, evaluating candidates for technical depth, ownership, and cultural fit.
  • Collaborate with product, design, and client teams to ensure clear requirements and smooth delivery.
  • Stay hands-on with code when needed, particularly in high-risk or complex technical areas.
  • Improve team effectiveness by increasing adoption of AI tools, automation, and modern engineering practices.
  • Ensure strong communication across distributed teams, proactively managing risks and delivery updates.
  • Requirements:

This role requires a blend of strong technical depth, engineering leadership experience, and the ability to operate hands-on across multiple stacks in fast-moving environments.

    • 4+ years of experience in engineering leadership or management roles.
    • 8+ years of experience building production software across multiple technologies and stacks.
    • Strong full-stack technical expertise with the ability to contribute code when needed.
    • Experience leading engineering teams across SaaS and eCommerce products.
    • Background in agency or multi-project delivery environments.
    • Proven ability to coach engineers and improve team autonomy and performance.
    • Strong system design and architecture skills across diverse technical environments.
    • Experience running delivery planning, estimation, and multi-workstream execution.
    • High standards for code quality, testing, and engineering best practices.
    • Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken).
    • Comfortable working remotely with overlap in US Central Time hours.
    • Experience working as an independent contractor in distributed teams.
    • Proficiency using AI-assisted development tools in modern workflows.
    • Benefits:

      • Competitive compensation: $7,500 USD per month
      • Fully remote independent contractor role (based in Latin America)
      • High-impact leadership position with ownership over engineering direction
      • Opportunity to build and scale a modern, AI-native engineering organization
      • Direct influence on architecture, team structure, and delivery excellence
      • Work across diverse SaaS and eCommerce client projects
      • Strong autonomy and decision-making authority
