Billing Manager

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Billing Manager based in the United States.

This leadership role is focused on overseeing billing operations within a complex healthcare revenue cycle environment, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance across all billing activities.
You will manage and develop a team responsible for resolving billing issues, optimizing workflows, and maintaining high-quality financial performance standards.
The position plays a key role in monitoring operational KPIs, identifying trends, and driving process improvements that enhance overall billing performance.
You will collaborate closely with revenue cycle leadership to support strategic initiatives and ensure alignment with organizational goals.
A strong emphasis is placed on coaching, team development, and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
This is a hands-on management role combining operational oversight, analytical problem-solving, and cross-functional coordination.
You will contribute directly to improving billing accuracy, efficiency, and client satisfaction across healthcare operations.

Accountabilities:

  • Lead and oversee daily billing operations, ensuring timely and accurate processing of accounts within established performance benchmarks and KPIs.
  • Manage, coach, and develop a team of associates and supervisors, including hiring, onboarding, training, and performance management.
  • Monitor workflow performance and identify trends, bottlenecks, and root causes of billing issues, implementing corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Provide support for complex billing inquiries and resolve escalated issues related to billing processes and best practices.
  • Conduct regular team huddles and training sessions to reinforce procedures, updates, and performance expectations.
  • Track, analyze, and report departmental performance metrics to leadership, ensuring alignment with client and organizational standards.
  • Review, update, and implement billing policies, procedures, and operational guidelines to improve consistency and efficiency.
  • Collaborate with leadership on strategic planning, operational improvements, and revenue cycle optimization initiatives.
  • Ensure quality assurance across billing activities through regular audits and performance monitoring.
  • Requirements:

    • 3–5 years of experience in healthcare billing, revenue cycle operations, or physician billing environments.
    • Proven leadership experience managing teams, including supervisory or managerial responsibilities.
    • Strong understanding of physician revenue cycle processes, billing workflows, and healthcare reimbursement systems.
    • Experience with EMR systems and clearinghouse platforms strongly preferred.
    • Ability to analyze operational data, identify trends, and implement process improvements.
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to coach, mentor, and influence team performance.
    • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, performance-driven environment.
    • Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).
    • Willingness to travel occasionally as needed for client support or operational needs.
