Senior Product Designer (Canada)

This is an opportunity to shape digital products that deliver meaningful real-world impact by improving how public transportation systems operate and serve their communities. As a Senior Product Designer, you will tackle complex challenges involving operational workflows, real-time information, analytics, and data-driven decision-making. Working closely with product managers, engineers, and users, you will influence product strategy from discovery through delivery while creating intuitive experiences for sophisticated enterprise environments. The role combines deep user research, systems thinking, and exceptional design craftsmanship to transform complexity into clarity. You will have the autonomy to drive initiatives, contribute to product direction, and elevate design quality across the organization. Ideal candidates are passionate about solving challenging problems, collaborating across disciplines, and creating products that improve everyday experiences at scale.

Accountabilities

  • Lead end-to-end product design initiatives, guiding projects from discovery and user research through prototyping, validation, and final implementation.
  • Partner closely with product management and engineering teams to define product strategy, identify opportunities, and develop solutions that address customer needs and operational challenges.
  • Conduct and facilitate user research activities, including interviews, usability testing, and insight synthesis, translating findings into actionable product improvements.
  • Design intuitive, high-quality user experiences for complex workflows, data-rich interfaces, operational systems, and analytical tools.
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, interaction models, and polished visual designs that effectively communicate product concepts and functionality.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams throughout development to ensure design quality, usability, and alignment with user needs.
  • Contribute to and evolve the design system, helping establish consistency, scalability, and best practices across products.
  • Apply systems thinking and service design principles to create cohesive experiences across multiple touchpoints and workflows.
  • Influence product direction by defining success metrics, identifying opportunities for improvement, and advocating for user-centered decision-making.
  • Mentor peers, provide constructive design feedback, and help elevate the overall quality and maturity of the design organization.
  • Requirements

    • Minimum of 8 years of product design experience, with a strong portfolio demonstrating ownership of complex products from concept through launch.
    • Proven success designing enterprise, B2B, operational, analytical, or data-intensive software solutions.
    • Strong expertise in user-centered design methodologies, interaction design, information architecture, visual design, and usability principles.
    • Experience conducting and synthesizing user research, selecting appropriate research methods, and translating insights into product strategy.
    • Proficiency in prototyping and modern design tools, with the ability to rapidly test and validate ideas while maintaining a high standard of visual and interaction design quality.
    • Experience designing dashboards, reporting tools, data visualizations, and analytical workflows.
    • Familiarity with AI-powered experiences, automation systems, prompt-based workflows, or emerging product paradigms is advantageous.
    • Strong systems-thinking capabilities and the ability to understand complex business logic, workflows, and interconnected product ecosystems.
    • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to present, defend, and iterate on design decisions based on evidence and feedback.
    • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams while providing mentorship and contributing to a strong design culture.
