Staff Product Manager, Core Apps

Jobgether · US

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Staff Product Manager, Core Apps based in the United States.

This is a senior, high-impact product leadership role at the heart of a technically sophisticated, open-source–driven platform used to manage complex network infrastructure at global scale. You will own critical elements of the Core product, including the data model, API surface, asset lifecycle, and custom object capabilities, while also shaping how the product evolves from open-source project to fully commercial offering. The role sits at the intersection of product strategy, engineering execution, and community stewardship, requiring deep technical fluency and strong product judgment. You will act as a bridge between engineering teams, customer-facing functions, and downstream product groups, ensuring that Core decisions scale cleanly across the ecosystem. A key dimension of this role is owning the open-source community experience while also translating enterprise needs into structured, shippable product direction. This is a highly visible position with significant influence over both product architecture and go-to-market success.

Accountabilities:

  • Own the evolution of Core product capabilities, including data models, APIs, custom objects, and asset lifecycle, ensuring scalability, extensibility, and long-term architectural coherence.
  • Define and drive how Core features transition from open-source releases into commercial product offerings, aligning engineering, product, and customer success stakeholders.
  • Manage and engage the open-source community presence, including issue triage, contributor coordination, release communication, and ecosystem trust-building.
  • Translate enterprise customer needs and usage patterns into clearly scoped, prioritized, and shippable product requirements.
  • Partner with engineering teams on architectural decisions affecting API design, backward compatibility, and schema evolution across integrations and automations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional product teams across platform, cloud, integrations, and enterprise offerings to ensure Core investments support the broader product ecosystem.
  • Engage directly with customers and prospects to gather deep technical insights and inform roadmap priorities.
  • Contribute to pricing, packaging, and commercial strategy for Core capabilities in partnership with product leadership and GTM teams.
  • Help drive cultural and process alignment between open-source development practices and commercial product delivery expectations.
  • Requirements:

    • 7–10+ years of product management experience in B2B software, with at least 3+ years focused on technical infrastructure, developer tools, or platform products.
    • Strong technical fluency with the ability to engage in architecture discussions, review code-level implications, and collaborate effectively with engineers.
    • Deep understanding of API design principles (REST/GraphQL), versioning strategies, and backward compatibility tradeoffs.
    • Strong systems thinking, particularly around data models, schemas, and how foundational changes propagate across complex integrations.
    • Demonstrated experience working with open-source products or communities, including contributor engagement and large-scale issue management.
    • Proven ability to drive cross-functional alignment and influence engineering, product, and GTM stakeholders without formal authority.
    • Track record of leading product or organizational change in technical environments and bringing structure to ambiguous problem spaces.
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical complexity into clear product direction and narrative.
    • Benefits:

      • Competitive compensation package aligned with senior product leadership roles
      • Equity/stock options in a high-growth, venture-backed company
      • Comprehensive healthcare coverage (medical, dental, vision)
      • Flexible work arrangements with remote-friendly culture
      • Opportunity to shape widely adopted open-source and enterprise software used globally
      • High-impact role with significant ownership over core product architecture and strategy
      • Collaborative, engineering-led environment with strong technical depth.
